Passing away of Gen Kriegler
It is with saddness that I report that Brig Gen Ben Kriegler passed away in the early hours of this morning after a short illness.
General Kriegler was pilot for Shackleton 1722, patron of the SAAF Museum Cape Town and a friend.
They shall grow not old
As we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them
Nor the years condemm
At the going down of the sun
And in the morning -
we will remember them

Sad news indeed. Condolences to his family and friends.
From the few times I met him, he always stuck in my memory as a real gentleman. It was a pleasure listening to him talk about the Shackletons and the efforts that went into keeping the last one flying.
