Bombardier Announces Sale of 2 CRJ900s to Arik (Nigeria)
Bombardier places first African CRJ900s with Nigerian startup Arik
Bombardier has placed its first African CRJ900 order with today’s announcement that Nigerian startup Arik Air will take two of the type.
The deal is valued at about $69 million, at list price. The aircraft will be operational in July. Both will be configured with 10 business-class and 65 economy-class seats.

Congratulations to Arik Air for placing the first Nigerian brand new jet order since 1982! I guess they will operate this stretched version on the trunk routes and leave the CRJ200 (50 seats) for shorter flights to state capitals.
This will be interesting to follow

This is surely goodnews and hopefully this will help accelerate the transformation on nigeria's aviation sector. With Arik, Aero and Virgin having young fleets, the other players might have not choice but to consolidate or go under.

Its going to be a very interesting year, rumour has it that there is huge panic over at VK right now because of the arrival of Arik. Guys at VK are being targetted by Arik and one has already done a runner, many more are rumoured to follow suit. We fairly new guys are looking at all this from the fence, and ready to abandon present ship at the first sign of openings over at the other side (VK or Arik).

18left,
Some ex-WT people are very capable, some of the best engineers+pilots. However a fortune will have to be spent on training/re-training them to take Arik where it wants to go. As u said, good luck to them.
