The Mystery of Air Namibia's 737-200's?!?
Air Namibia's 737-200(s?) as we know, are leased from Safair. How mny have airnamleased? They do not tell you a specific number on their website. Other websites say one, some say two and some say three. It is impossible, with the schedule they operate to operate just one. Two maybe. I have been looking at pictures of their 737's and i have found the following:
V5-ANA
V5-ANB
V5-AND
Am i correct?
Does anyone know anything else?

V5-ANA was their original 737 for many years, V5-ANB is as far as I know the sister ship to ANA, was originally purchased by COMAIR as ZS-NLN (from Transavia-Holland) and was the first 737 in the new BA-DREAM-colours, famous poster foto over vic falls, was an odd-one-out in comair fleet and sold to Safair which leased it it NAMIBIA whilst ANA was in for major maintenance. Namibia couldn't afford it and returned it to Safair after whivh Comair re-leased their previously owned aircraft, Now re-registered as ZS-OKF. When Comair eventually decide to retire this aircraft, better times were at Namibia and it was re-leased back to them again as V5-ANB where it has been ever since.
Well V5-ANC......thats a new one for me....didn't even know they had a 3rd 737, will keep my eyes open and do some "asking" to find out were it originates from

brief history
V5 ANA came from states early ninetees,the first 737 later sold to safair then leased back,not allowed to comment on that move
V5 ANB came from some scandinavian outfit via safair
V5 AND ex SAA i think ZS SID OR SIS
all around mid 40 000 hrs ,someone else can advise at what hrs they retire ,i dont fly them anymore.

If I remember right, SID became a freighter; probably SIS; which wasn't one of the original Fluffs - arrived from somewhere in the late 90's I think.

Not SID as this is still a freighter, not SIS either, this one still flying on safair colours but have been told by Safair tech's that V5-AND is on of the B737-236 that SAA aquired from Chile....which one I have yet to find out.

As far as I know all those white one's currently being operated by Safair came from Chile through SAA. (ZS-SIS, ZS-SIN, ZS-SIO, ZS-SIR, ZS-SIT) Maybe one of them went to Namibia.

Boeing assigns customer "dash" series to every airplane ordered. -36 would be an airplane that was built (and delivered) originally to British Airways.
-16 was assigned to LAN Chile

Hi Guys,
V5-AND was ex British Airways G-BGDA B737-236 built in 1981.
She is (was?) l/n 599 of the 737 Classics, and was with BA until April 2001, when SAA acquired the aircraft and it was registered ZS-SIT. Air Namibia got it in June 2004....
