Government Aircraft

Anyone have any info on the ex Ulundi based aircraft. Saw the Longranger tucked away in a Lanseria hangar and lots on blank faces when the ? was posed - Who owns it now?

Not sure where the baron ZSNZL went, but the Lear 31 ZSNYV seems to be operated by the SAPS airwing alongside their Beechjet.

Believe there is a big dispute about the machine, some high ranking government official involved.

What a wonderful forum to resolve such an issue - please feel free to use the faculties afforded by this forum to further discuss the involvement of said "government official." Rest assured of the utmost discretion and complete anonymity in your reporting. Really.

Interested to find out the level of sarcasm used here, if any. Really.

It would appear that the dispute is centered on the Baron and the Longranger where a cancelled sale resulted in a questionable tender being structured by a government hev with very close ties (read business ties) to the person who wanted the Longranger only. Looks like he got the Longranger in the end!

I this another Shaik/Zuma type relationship?:

Mystic Flyer I do not think that there is any level of sarcasm at all from 4HP. He is genuinely inviting us all to have our say and assuring us that the Prune really is anonymous!

This is potentially a huge 'hot potato' and once investigations get under way could uncover some very unsavoury relationships utilized to advance the wealth of individuals both private and in government. Zuma / Shaik - similar!?

Great site PPrune!!

You've Got - you seem to have an inside track on this saga! Let us in on the hot gen. Lets see if your info has a similar flavour to mine.

Made a few calls and it appears there is a tie up between a Durban based "business man" who's into chickens, roads, property development and of course aviation, and a local MEC (transport????).

How nice - make friends with a government dude and let him find all the nice stuff that will make lots of tom - then set up a company with the oh so necessary BEE structures and bobs your aunty - you're in the pound seats.

OK - so who's got a list of gov blokes that I can latch on to?

Nope, serious on this one. I've heard a few rumors on this subject & am sure that there's enough wood on this pile to enjoy a roaring fire. If you get my drift.

.....Talk about the Government and aircraft....
I know some people in the charter business and the stories i've heard is hair raising. One particular one that comes to mind is a certain minister that wanted to fly from CPT to somewhere in SA (i cant remember the airport). She got quoted on some private jet to take her (which didn't come cheap, especially seeing as we, the tax payers pay for it), but after she saw a photo of the aircraft (think it might of been a Lear 45 or Premier I jet) she wanted "a bigger private jet because she wanted to make a good impression when she lands". A Jet was ferried from JHB to CPT to pick her up!

makes you sick.........

Wonder if it's the same one who fancies herself as a connoisseur of champagne. Usually has the most expensive bottle of French stuff opened on the BBJ, takes one sip and sends it back.

Meanwhile, in a shack in Guguletu..........

On the BBJ...last time she had the privilage to taste it, she was probably drunk already on shake-shake, thus do not remember what it tasted like, it is after-all an aquired taste, and not recommended as condiment to chicken nuggets or -basket.

Amazing always to note the disgust after their sort leaves the room, remarks about the lack of culture and stench of new money (misperception that it was theirs), not even two yoghurt's for breakfast could fix the lack of culture!

The African Statesmen/women...and who they corrupt with them!

Time's running out.....he,he,he...

It appears that Canthover is on the numbers there - this Longranger has been the center of much argy bargy of late and was quickly sent to Lanseria for a contract out of the country (Pakistan??). This appears to have rattled the Durban based chicken man a little as there could be a law suit arising out of the initial lease agreement prior to the sudden appearance of the cancelled sale and tender.

Seem to remember seeing the Longranger down in the Eastern Cape on an ambulance contract a while back.

As for the hiring of fancy jets and sending Champers back after one sip - well, if you are on the receiving end of opulence - then whats wrong with that!!! Sit back, relax and watch the poor from level 310 - lekker ain't it!

Canthover - PM me if you need the list of names.

Rumour has it that the Longranger in question has been moved around faster than the 'new owners' can keep up with. Stories abound of it being in Margate for 'maintenance' and then whilst a rep of the 'new owner' was driving to FAMG, it took off for the reef!

Tenders, bids, BEE, Government officials, cancelled bids etc loverly stuff!! Mail and Guardian love this sort of intrigue! Personally it stinks and is rotten to the core!!
