Young passionate student SUGAR Diabetic's
Does anyone have any advice for a 16 year old with sugar diabetics and a serious passion for aviation, is it at all possible to learn to fly? What are the other career prospects if there are any? We value your comments.

Suggest you speak first to the Institute of Aviation Medicine to find out what the long term implication would be. They are normally very helpfull. You can ask for Dr Du Toit. Their number (012) 6645954 office hours. Hope you can sort it out.

Type of diabetes ?
Do you know what type of diabetes he has ?
Type I is Insulin dependant -by injections - & diet is extremely important.
Type II requires daily intake of pills & diet is extremely important.
Diets are often a problem -especially when flying.
It would be interesting to learn what the Aviation Medicine practioner rules in this case.
