Thumbs up SAP Porter precautionary landing

Always knew the STOL capability will come in handy some day .. never mind the lovely undercart

Well done to the crew

A police aircraft made a "precautionary landing" in an open field near the DF Malan highway west of the Pretoria city centre on Tuesday morning.

"The aircraft was on a routine crime prevention flight when it experienced a mechanical problem and made the precautionary landing," operational response services divisional commissioner Arno Lamoer said.

"After safely landing the pilot contacted the Wonderboom Air Wing and the commanding officer sent an aircraft engineer to the site."

The light aircraft, a Pilatus Porter PC6, was on the ground for about an hour for a minor fault to be fixed, before returning to the Wonderboom airport.

Nobody was injured and the plane was not damaged in the landing, said spokesperson Peter Mbelengwa.

The incident was reported to the civil aviation authority.
