Angry (Another) DRC plane crash ... 7 dead .. oh yes it is an Antonov

Seven people were killed on Monday when an Antonov 26 aircraft crashed near Isiro airport in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the United Nations-backed Okapi radio said.

Those who died were four crew members and three passengers on the cargo plane, which belongs to the private DRC airline Galaxie, the radio report said.

The Antonov crashed for as yet unknown reasons about 1 500m short of the runway where it had been coming in to land at Isiro in Orientale Province, the report said.

Because you can get the old Antonovs just above scrap-metal value, even some 8s around in the region. They´re are banned in
Russia and Ukraine but still flying in Africa, Antonov OKB refuse to service these old "goodies", but do you think it stop Liberia, Djibouti and Swaziland to register them in their name?

Yes, thanks Alex, of course. What I should have said was what makes the pilots fly such ancient things ? All the ones I met who flew dodgy a/c seemed to have the attitude "it won't happen to me" rather like an Italian motorcylist.
