Lightbulb Aerocontractors (Aero Airline) : "business is good"

From Ghanaweb :

http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePag...l.php?ID=86514

Aerocontractors, operators of Aero Airline, have said they the company is in the aviation business to provide safe, reliable, efficient and competitive service to its customers. The company said it is also contributing to the growth of tourism by not only providing affordable tourist rates but also ferry tourists to sites in the sub-region.

Mr Mark Snozell, the Business Development Manager of the airline, told newsmen at the weekend that the airline operates in Accra, Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Malabo, Lome, Cotonou and Sao Thome. He said registered in Nigeria in 1960, the company started as an air charter service company operating both rotary and fixed wing aircraft service to major oil and gas companies and allied industries in Nigeria and in the sub-region.

Mr Snozell said due to the demand for air transportation in Nigeria, the company branched into scheduled passenger airline service in 2000, using a Boeing 737 aircraft.

He said the company's six-month operation in Ghana has been fruitful and assured potential customers of quality service. 25 July 05

They're actually Aero Contractors Company of Nigeria, mostly the helicopter operator formerly part-owned and managed by Schreiner Aviation, now part of Canadian Helicopter Corporation. A few years ago, after they started operating Dash 8s they decided to operate scheduled services, but it wasn't until they damp leased the JAT Boeing 737s that their business took a good upturn. They're due to get another 737 on dry lease fairly shortly, and Mark Snoxall seems to have done quite a good marketing job on their fixed wing services. I hear that CHC weren't sure of what to do about these fixed wing aircraft they had suddenly aquired, but as they're making money at the moment, it looks as if they'll be kept on.

ACN does run a good show....some small glitches on the helicopter side when it comes to accomodation and tickets for leave but that seems to be the helicopter business.
