Are pilots handycapt??

ive been in the aviation business for a long time, and are yet to see a pilot that will actualy do something more than just fly the plane (glorified taxi drivers).Im a 3500 hr ppl, and do not wish to become a cpl or a atpl, due to this fact. Everething has to get done for them, and wont lift a finger to help somebody. Sometimes i think they just took the easy way out of life. All they do is sit in a chair, and just driving like a taxi driver in jhb except they have are a bit more qualified, and is allowed to drive the more executive people around like a limmo driver.

Just sitting on your ass from point A to B not an option flying for some NGO's in Africa. If you don't do the loading yourself, or at least help, you'll either have a loadshift or just nog go anywhere within your FDP's.
Great fun refueling out of drums... Doing bits of gardening to modify runways so they're more suitable to your needs. Actually prefer it aswell, makes me feel I've actually earned my money, flying just doesn't feel like work.

“Crewbouy”, what a moron! Apart from the fact that you cannot spell to save your life, I doubt it very much that you have even sat in an “airoplane”, never mind owning one!!! You only have to read your post to figure out what a loser you are. Your stupidity once again exceeded your ability, I’m sure you have heard it many times in your life. I bet you are a +3000hour PPL because you cannot pass your CPL, and now that you cannot buy it , you can only bitch about the guys who have managed to achieved what you never will….LOOSER!!!:*

crewbouy,

The reason many things are done by someone other than a crewmember has nothing to do with pilots being lazy and the amount of this varies with the size/type of operation and the requirement to keep the operation running smoothly/efficiently.

The airline I worked for operated about 600 airplanes at one time. In order to keep things running safely and on time, they could not expect crews to load bags, file flight plans, pump fuel, oversee catering. These things were done by the airline for reasons of efficiency.

In a smaller/different operation, perhaps these functions must be filled by the pilots because there just isn't anyone else on the payroll to do them.

I assume since you asked the question, you actually wanted an answer rather than an opportunity to take a cheapshot at pilots. The question in a civilized format may get you a more civilized answer.

Crewbouy

Well, the simple fact that you are a private pilot, and that you have never WORKED as a pilot may explain why you have no idea what kind of duties and decisions may be involved in the job.

There is quite a difference between flying commercially and going to an aeroclub on weekends.

Moreover I can tell you that in my outfit flight crews put on more duty time that any accountant, secretary or ops manager. Just because they aren't sitting their ass in front of a desk doesn't mean they are out having fun (well, okay, we sometimes do too )...

Too bad you are so bitter about the issue. I guess you should work in another field if pilots upset you so much...

Nicely and succinctly put Treetopflyer.

lizzard, you are right on the mark too. Don't know about yours, but on my keyboard the p and c are a long way apart so it's not likely to be a mistype.

What it is in aviation that everyone seems to like to be commerial or airline pilot. What is wrong if one owns a private airplane and use it as he/she wish. Not all car drivers are hoping to get professional licence and to work as taxi, bus or truckdrivers. But as soon as one get a PPL then he need to get CPL and finally ATPL and then start to complain how there is too many pilots for too few jobs! Boys and girls , there is other jobs as well and maybe you will make enough money to have a nice shiny private airplane.

As has been said - come to Africa, load a couple of hundred kilo's in and out, manage errant pax, oh, and by the way its 35 deg C with 100% humidity, all with no support - or have you not heard of the big wide world out there? Would you rather pilots were more tired when about to fly, or less? A pretty simple question really....

As they say there is always one. The title of this thread "handycapt" just about sums it up as to what this clown is trying to say! Let me assure you that there are plenty of handy captains around in the industry that do a fine job so maybe keep your nose out of things where it does not belong. And quit crucifying the English language bro!!! Nuff said!!!
Man some peoples children!!!!!!!!!!

Crews Bouy

Looks like u are just that... the Crew's Bouy...get a life and move on China. Maybe one day a qualified PPL will allow you to hold the pea jar when taking a leak in flight.
Get off your Flight Sim and get some real flying done...Sorry to tell you, you can't log those hours...meet some real pilots out there with the metal you only dream of behind your PC and rather stick to Scoobie Doo that PPrune..joke Wopple head

If you have been flying your aircraft the way you think professional pilots do, you are one of the weekend warriors that make airspace dangerous for all who use it, including other ATPL’s, CPL’s and PPL’s who, I might add, understand the requirements for a safe and efficient flight, a lot better then you do. With your opinion of what flying entails you are a danger to all pilots and passengers. Your license should be revoked.
