737 ATC stuck on rwy (Mwanza!)

Hi again guys...

It seems that mwanza is in a black series period!

This morning, a 737-200 from Air Tanzania made an approach on rwy 12 (bad weather) and blew up the four tire of main gears...So now, it's stuck on the last third of the rwy...
Seems they caught a bird on one engine...
See u!

(Hope it's the last one!)

Hi,

Yes i'm based in MZ...but not for long..

In fact, ATC had no engine failure, just the tires problem...so it seems they forced the approach...

Cheers

Hmm Good for you.

Before all the critics step in, let me clarify what exactly happened

In fact, ATC had no engine failure, just the tires problem...so it seems they forced the approach...
You are right on the first part, but wrong when you point out they forced the approach.

Let me shed some light on this.

It was raining in Mwanza when the plane arrived overhead the VOR, for a normal procedure for runway 12.

The Landing was normal, however during landing roll, the Right main tires blew out, and a few meters further down the left main tires blew out.

It was handled very well.

Devil

Terrible thing rain....just eats right thru tires. Wonder when they gonna do something about it, the piles of planes blocking all rainy runways, are becoming such a nuisance....

Hello There Guys,

Here's the latest on that So called Hard Landing.

The Aircraft landed with Auto Barke selected to Medium, however the Wheels did not spin on contact with the water/TAR, as the autobrake computer was malfunctioning, no annunciator warnings.

Basically they landed with auto brake holding the brakes full on,
just like having Park brake on.

cheers

Lightbulb

He used to give me (and 4HP) a lot of sh&t as Students.

I was pi$$ed one night in the Waterkloof Off Pub and as Spof came in I ran a BIG lighter on the pub counter that made sparks everywhere.

He chased me out of the pub ( he was a rank higher).

About 5 years we became " friends" again when I was a rank higher

Good man Spof (where is he ? 21 Sqn)

Thanks for these informations "lone falcon"...I was just betting about the approach...because 4 tires in one shot is a lot...!! Don't you think?
Anyway...the most important, they well managed the roll...cause, on wet runway, with blown up tires...off runway is easy...

Cheers!

Re: ATC 737 in mwanza,
They did force the landing as the weather was well below minimums, i know because i landed about 10 mins before them and only saw the runway at about half a mile, with the clouds about 100ft. They had done the same the day before. Also saying the il-76 crew was drunk was a lie. Check facts yabon

Hey Brat !

Maybe you should read the Captains report, and for that matter even the TCAA report.

The Visibility was 5000 meters and the Aircraft was visual at 5200 feet on the VOR approach for Rwy 12.

The minimums for that approach are 4400 feet

Yeah and so can Pinks, Blue's Red's, Gays, Lesbians, Bi-sexuals and Hetero sexuals...What's wrong with you Boy? Why being so racial? You got a chip on your shoulder? Every post you're on you seem to have the need to mention color...Grow up!

Read on another one of your great posts, you're a CPL working on your ATPL, continue with that attitude and you'll end up being an ATPL washing cars. Is this the "New South Africa"???

Wouldn't get too concerned about Grommet. Reckon hes just fishing for a reaction and if you ignore him he'll tire of the game and simmer down into a reasonable human being.
