River-prop...
A small word of advice, if I may...
If you are prepared to re-write 5 or 6 times, and possibly lose credits for subjects passed, then self-study is OK - otherwise, and notwithstanding your time constraints, try to get in some recognised ground school time - it will save you time and tears and money, in the long run...
Cheers

Nonense!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get a set of old FTC notes before they got corupted and self study those, the new CFA are OK (basicly the FTC notes corrupted)ask around I'm sure you can find them and if you have to pay a couple hundred its worth it.
I did it in 5 months and only sat a course on the last exam I needed(so all in all my ATP cost R550 for one course, hand me down notes and Exam fee's about R1500 in total).
Good luck

Self Study
Hi there
With respect to above Rhodie post, if you have time and ability (i.e. hard work, no kids, dogs, wife, dirty nappies etc) self study 3-4 weeks is ample. I did it a few years ago before the computer system so.... is this mindset still valid??????.....!!!!
BUT a younger colleague has only last month also written all ATP subjects (7 I think??) after self study and passed all of them first time with very good marks.
Well done to him and good luck to you. If you want to speak to him you can PM me and I will ask him if he is willing to speak to you. I don't know if he is a ppruner yet.
Cheers

Self studied for ATP and found the FTC notes £$%& useless, especially AT&G. Riddled with errors and parts were obviously written by someone who's first language was more likely to be Latvian than English. In all fairness though, quality varied from OK to pathetic. "Before they get corrupted??" No need - they did a pretty good job of it themselves - I felt embarrased for them at times.
Avex are definitely best of the bunch. A lot of the syllabus is covered by the com notes, so use whatever you have already - supplement where neccesary with ATP notes. I found the Aeronav typical questions useful - get hold of a set if you can.
Good Luck!

So in summation river-prop, what these guys are trying to tell you is, get both sets of notes and be prepared to work your @ss off! Did the same as SRT and it worked like a charm!

Self-studied and passed them all a few years ago... back then Avex notes were definitely the best for covering all the material, and FTC were good for typical exam questions.
Three weeks of hard work...

Pretty much spot on. FTC notes for the questions as the notes themselves were a trifle dodgy and self contradictory, and AVEX for the actual kopkrap, blood, sweat and tears.
