Alone ??

Are white SA Africans the only Africans on these boards ? Are these fora proprietory ? Or can people who live and/or work in Africa (but aren't Afrikaans) but who spend most of their lives in Africa have an opinion ? Please tell me so know whether to carry on here or not. Really.

I have been reading up about PPRUNE here and nowhere does it say that the African Aviation Section is reserved for
white SA Africans
.
Please tell me so know whether to carry on here or not. Really.
Nobody is forcing you to be on these boards and nobody is forcing other Africans off these boards. Dont know how you came up with that thought, but hey, thats you!
Funny, all the contributions by folks from all over Africa are actually by white South Africans. Didn't know that.
Does that mean that white South Africans are not allowed to post on the Scandinavian, North American, Canadian, Middle Eastern, etc etc etc threads? Please tell me so that I know. Really.

It is strange how NEO makes an issue out of a non issue and turns in to racial dilemma.

Dear NEO. It is very simple , you either post here, or you don't. Just a word of advice. With posts like the one you just made you are not going to get very far in making "Friends". Get rid of the chip on your shoulder, have a good look in the mirror and smell what you are shoveling.

If you decide that you want to contribute to this forum ,remember: We are not black, white or brown, we are pilots. Really.

I think it all started when NEO posted on a thread querying the use of Afrikaans and got shot down for his pains.

As you say, we're all drivers so why get excited about nowt?

If yez want to gabble on in Suomi, that's your indaba but don't be surprised if no one understands you.

NEO,
I am NOT a white South African - I still bear a German PP for what its worth and quite frankly I don't get your point. As far as I'm concerned the world - especially the aviation world is a village where people of all races and colours have to put up with each other. Only one PPrune you have a choice join - or quit.

As for me I do enjoy being on the forum whenever time permits and I don't care about the colour or nationality of any fellow PPruner whether he is dark or light green!!!

Sometimes a little tolerance is needed but as I said before no big deal it's your choice to be on or off

Have a nice weekend

Really no need to comment - I think it's all been said. Aviation professionals from all cultures, gene-pools and both sexes are welcome here. The fact that there is a dominance on this forum of multi-lingual, former colonials from the southern part of our continent is clear but it in no way precludes others from taking part; in fact it is welcomed.

Get off your political, reverse racism bandwagon and engage in meaningful debate. Please.

NEO, I am here, now the problem as I see it is they don't get the beer cold enough because there too cheap to turn the generater on for long enough.

Because this is so serious we should refuse to buy the 'night fighters' a drink, they will then tell there mates that we need cold beer which should solve the problem.

The length of time this problem will be solved can be calculated by the formula, no maintance + no fuel = no cold beer, this should occur right after the first beer bought for said exotic ladies.

Of course we knew we would buy our friends a beer but they didn't so we win, don't we?

How do you translate this in to Africaans so the SA's can read this.

Interesting that NEO hasn't replied to any of the replies to his first posting.

But that's fairly common in SA as well : drop a hint of a complaint of racism, then stand well back and enjoy the show!

They've got the same problem in England: one black footballer claims that two football fans - in a crowd of 60000 - made a derogatory remark about his skin colour and the whole country goes into an orgy of recrimination, grovelling apology, puiblic wrist-slashing, etc.

It really is pathetic.

It worries me that there might be a pilot flying the plane I'm on one day who has the sort of chip on his shoulder that NEO has displayed.

Hope he's not a pilot!

NEO, I am sure you have lost some sleep over the temperature of my beer so I to put your mind at ease I would like to keep you updated.

Went to my local exotic bar yesterday and would you believe it, cold beer. Well I was so shocked I had to have a small celebration, this unfortunatley stopped me from carrying out my plan of learning Africaans last night.

As I know you are a man of wisdom I wondered if you could tell me if 'Africaans' is the correct spelling of the langauge, I ask this as I would not like to cause offence.

Do you spell it AfiKKKans,is there an 'e' on the end? any help with this would be much appreciated.

Yours faithlessly,

CarryOnCopter.

Bit off thread perhaps, but the latest forms from the South African CAA ask for details of my "Population Group" for, "statistical purposes".

Quite apart from the rights and wrongs of this (and the potential for this information to be abused), the options are;

'African', 'White', 'Coloured', 'Asian' or 'Other', which suggests that the CAA doesn't recognise the existence of white, coloured or asian Africans.

Does 'Coloured" means mixed black and white race or does it extend to black/asian, white/asian as well?

As a white European of Scottish / English parentage, can I tick 'other' on the grounds that I am mixed race?

Will the form still be processed if decline to form part of this statistical survey?

Does anyone thow what these statistical purposes are?
