Lo Alf,

Robert Blake's "First Choice Airline" (SL Based) will make use of Monarch as their preferred carrier starting 15 Dec.

How safe is Sierra Leone (FNA)?

Any local knowledge would be most welcome. We plan to be flying on to Accra for the lay over, but...... if we go tech, etc. how safe are things generally?

Thanks Dog

Thumbs up

As safe as ever mate. Cold beers are the worst enemy ... eischh hunged over again this morning gunzzz.

Astraeus crews sleeps over in Freetown. (past 5 months)

First Choice crews will start their sleep overs in December but they will not risk a heli ride / ferry / hovercraft ride across and will stay in the Lungi Hotel close to the airport.

Cheers

Gunzzzz

Guns - are you and your team going to be doing 'the security' for Monarch too ?

Aside - If my roster goes to plan, I'll be down on the evening of 19th; following which, I hope to avail myself of some of those cold tinnies you mention.

Dog... FNA is probably much less dangerous than Miami and / or New York ( or J'burg, eh Guns ? ). Indeed our (AEU) crews have been having a blast down there - just don't tell the management ( oh, bugger, I probably just did ) !

Safe but expensive
I was there yesterday and had to pay 1080 $ of fees for enroute control and landing for my little aircraft.

I miss the time I was flying a government aircraft...

(Sorry Guns, I had no time to fly across and say Hi.
Nobody had your phone number in Lungi.)

Lo Crashdrive,

If they approach us - we certainly would like to give it a go !

Awaiting your arrival on the 19th mate .. with Coldddd one's !

Re Safety : I agree. If you just follow the African rules - no problems.

Touch wood I have not heard of one expat being raped , seriously mugged , armed robbery etc .. never mind kidnapping and hi-jacking.

On the other side of town there is some armed robberies going on (2 hrs drive from "our " side).

Cheers all
