AAD Dissapointing

Was there today

Only Foreign military planes were

USAF C-5A Galaxy, KC-135R Tanker, Black Hawk and a static only retired F-16A

Italy had a C130J herc

Germany had 2 C-160 Transalls

Thats it

No F-15's no Indian Mirages

Somuch for all the magazines predictions

Hope the guys get better planes at the public days

Oh yes 2 Grippens, but one had to land right after it took off, afterwhich they pulled the second from the static park, which then took off later in the day

Mostly a few pictures and a hospitality enclosure

From DeanW (www.saairforce.co.za)

This year's show is a lot smaller than in previous years. The SAAF presence on the ground is limited, but this may change for the open days (Friday and Saturday). However, there are still a few international visitors.

International visitors include:

USAF

C-5A Galaxy 90015 of 105 AW, NY ANG
KC-135R 600358 of 107 ARW, NY ANG
MH-60 26114
F-16A painted in the colours of 174 FW. This aircraft was retired around 1993 and has no engine and the wings have been modified for easy removal so that it can be transported to the various shows.
The USAF aircraft will not be flying during the show.

Italy

C-130J 46-47

Sweden

Gripen 134 and 311

Germany

C-160 50+34 (plus one other)

SAAF static aircraft include:

Agusta A-109 4003 and 4006
Alpha XH-1
Alouette III 120 and 55  (Clocked a few hours on those 2!)
BK-117 387
Oryx 1217
Rooivalk 680
C-130 406
Cessna 185 715
Cessna Carravan 3005
Cheetah C 359
Cheetah D 847
Mirage F1AZ 227
Casa 212 8010
Hawk Mk 120 250
Andy Floor I can give you a tel number to phone and ask if you do not know - but in previous years it was CLEARLY marked from the Pta - Kempton Park (Jan Smuts) High Way.

A. Floor

Take the N1 North (concrete highway), when the highway splits take the N1 North to Pietersburg/Polokwane, then take the R21 turnoff to the left, and the AFB will be on your left hand side. Good luck!

Thumbs up

Yip SS,

You will not say I grew up in that area.
Of course the Kempton road is the N1.

Had a thought it was the Ben Schoeman for a while :o

Good Luck and enjoy

The Kempton Highway is the R21 (between Smuts and Pta) and the Ben Schoeman is the N1. Hopefully you didnt give anybody directions, because they would've ended up in Shoshanguve

Heard from somebody today that the show is really good. Havent seen any myself. Am too far away
