The response from the insurance company: No insurance payout for hull of aircraft. Insurance company initiates civil proceedings against operator to recoup payouts for passenger liability. Operator liquidated, directors' house car and assets seized after court proves that the flight was unlawful.
Which body do you think exercises the most influence in ensuring the law is enforced?? It ain't the CAA.

relax mac daddy...
if you go to prison and serve your time then you come out with a clean slate.
are you going to hold something gerund did in the past against him for the rest of his life?
stop being so righteous

Gerund said"Ever wondered why South African and Russian operators get the aid contracts??? Yes, cheap, cheap, cheap, and why??? :-) :-)"
Yea mate, work ethic.I believe its an insult to all the JAR licenced pliots pesting to get SA operators to give them a seat. Last count 672 our company alone.
nuff sed.
Lotsa things changed since they let you out, I presume?

come on people...
lets be honest....an atpl does not make the pilot...the person with good training and experience makes for a good pilot.
all an atp means is that you were capable of passing a set of exams which is set at a particular standard, and another cpl flight test.
examine the content of the exams and you realise that yes some of it is applicable, but an awful lot of it is not.
please dont get me wrong, i fully appreciate the fact that the law states that to fly command in an aircraft over 5,700kgs one must have this licence, except for the 1900, but dont just think because one has an atpl they are better, more experienced or capable of making better decisions than a cpl holder.
if the aircraft is legally aloud to be operated by a cpl holder, stop saying that an atpl holder is better, there is no real difference.
it is like saying someone who has an atpl is more preferable to a cpl holder to fly a duchess....why?

South Coast,
You are speaking nonsense now. A comm pilot has two hundred hours and an altp has a 2000 or so. Minimum standard. Further more he has studied wider aspects to flying, allowing him to learn to fly a B1900 and bigger (upto maximum) with some good grounding.
I'm sure a ppl can fly the Duchess better than you, but that doesn't stop you from earning a buck out of it.
I take it you are on the drag side of the power curve and possibly have yet to get that ATPL. Lighten up, do the studies, they aren't going away and they increase you knowledge a little more, which seems you need despirately. While you are at it, try get a few more ATPL's than just one or two, possibly 3 or 4 like others and then see if you can write that rubbish again.
Now back to that braaivleis...!

I have sent you a PM...

Perhaps you may refrain from making assumptions with regards to what side of the curve I am on, so you are wrong with your statement.
And yes, one can always increase ones knowledge, but a bit sad when at your stage in life and career you are unable to spell 'desperately' correct.

I have passed double the number of ATPL exams that are taken in South Africa, so once again you have made an incorrect statement.
Becomes really petty when people start attacking people personally so I suggest you think before you write replies like your previous one.

Leave planecrazi to his barbeque.
One benefit of prison is that you meet a lot of dodgy characters with hearts of gold... I know you have the ATP, but if you know anyone who wants one the easy way, let me know. I pay commission. Flying on a forged Bolivian one at the moment with a genuine validation!
Tokoloshe.... despite numerous letters to Raytheon, they have still come up with nothing to beat your plastic bag, belatedly found to be full of holes I always have a family pack of toilet paper in my flight bag in case you pay a visit!

what?! Bolly!!!
Planecrazi,
My grand mother always told me "dont open your mouth about something you know little about, because your ignorance will hang out."
The statements you made, boet its hanging all out, the full Monty! Not only that, but your ignorance is hanging right beside it.
Anybody that thinks he will learn something new by studying ATP subjects has a little more to learn. Its just a n irrelevant hurdle. The only thing it gives one the right to learn more, while flying.
One thing you must remember, is that by pretending that a practical job can be academic, if one pretends hard enough, doesnt happen. Point.
ATP sylabi are filled with outdated irrelevant information that has the sole purpose of wasting precious time, that you could have spent earning a living.
The data is so erronous that on multiple choice exams, external moderators has to moderate the answers because of all the mistakes in the answers given.
In my book the mere fact that a mulitple choice exam has a wrong answer is not possible. Wrong! It happens daily.
A wise man once said that there is only one thing that beats experience, and that is more experience. Not how mant ATP's youve passed. The only thing that makes a mulitple ATP in my book is overpaid or bored.
The funny thiing is there is only one way to measure experience in our line of work. Its called Hours, accident free hours. One cannot study for that.
Give me a 5000hr Comm. with 20 types on his licence, driving my HILUX rather than a fresh ATPwith three.
And if you wondered. Both.
SC that is it for me boet.
I have had enough.
" the time has come the walrus said to speak of many(other) things, of pirate ships and sealing wax and cabbages and kings.."

South Coast,
There is a reply awaiting you in your PM. Thank you.
Contraxdog,
Yeah, your grandmother was right!
Well the braai was good, but it didn't solve the B1900 issue. I just wonder how much longer this issue will continue.
If the ALTP is an irrelavant "hurdle", which comm license should we go earn?
Why is everyone bashing Gerund, so much? Surley he deserves a brake of some kind!

no worries planecrazi....
we are all in the same boat, may aswell rock in the same direction...
and as for gerund, i know he probably had a hard time in prison but i heard he did pretty well with a little cigarette raquet, and gambling with some of the other inmates.
gerund, how was your stretch, and was it a problem getting a flying job after you got out of jail?
i am a little suprised how easily you seemed to get employed again, but i guess that just shows you how good parole officers are these days and that folks are becoming more and more understanding and accepting of convicted criminals flying airplanes.

Thanks for the interest, and thanks also to all my good friends and pilots who helped me through that difficult time. I was only joking about the Bolivian licence.... perhaps in poor taste given my spell at the taxpayer's expense
Interestingly, the CAA allowed me to take the Commercial exams without having a PPL (the normal requirement) based on the several thousand hours, including lots of command time racked up on medium category twins, based on my forged licence and documents. They found they couldn't legally take the hours actually flown away from me, and it seemed pointless to take a PPL test just to show I could fly a 172, when I was flying a 1900 in command. Strangely too, as I had done my time, they were incredibly helpful in getting my various ratings approved and endorsed on my licence, once I had passed the exams. No, I didn't buy them!! A leopard can change his spots, so there, but I didn't need to.....
The Com exams were a piece of piss, and so were the ATP exams... jeez, if I had known they were going to be multiple choice I might have done it the right way first time. Lucky no pilots have to take Professional Exams. Just imagine passing your medical or legal exams by multiple guess! I guess no one fails the Com and ATP exams... if they do, I wouldn't employ them to fly my plane any time, even if they pass later.
And got a job dead easy.... the market is light on P1s for the 1900, especially if they want an ATP, so just walked in. And as usual, never looked closely at my licence ;-), just photocopied it ... but it was chipper this time.... well, sort of
Wouldn't recommend my career path though..... the lost years in clink were valuable in some ways, but the confinement is quite gruelling.
While I'm on south coast, have you heard how Capt Stephen Hawking is? Haven't seen him around for a while. I am sure he would have useful input on this subject, given his research.
