Farnborough Airshow

Saw an SAA 747 land at EGLF today presumably to partake in the Airshow next week.
The plane looked fabulous; it certainly put the re-cycled Renault (A340) to shame!
I will follow it's progress and report further

Man oh man....

How much would I love to see that. I have seen what the SAA pilots can do with a 747 at airshows and it is pretty spectacular. But noooo guess who has to sit groundschool next week. A whole week of Farnborough and I am going to miss it all sitting in a classroom in Cheddar (Bristol GS) listening to Baz explaining how to use the wizz wheel!

To put you out of your misery it was the 1 and only commander Lavine .......... surely you're not surprised.

Anyway my family was at the airshow and the display was great they said.

I was working myself so missed it also.

SAA 747- 400 UK Displays

Display pilot for each flight was Grant McAlpine. Brian Cartwright flew in the RH seat.

What a beautiful, beautiful, baby !!

Apparently the display pilots coudn't really put on the show they would have loved to, because of the strict restrictions imposed on all the display aircraft from ATC. Obviously due to safety considerations.

Its really great to know though that out of all the airlines in the world, Rolls Royce invited SAA to do the display for their centenary celebrations.

Ya the boere certainly showed how a 47 should be handled it was the only great display during an otherwise lousy airshow!

As has been mentioned in previous posts the displays were so sterile that the entrance fee was a rip off!

I for one will certainly not be paying to go to farnborough again dispite only living a few miles away I'd rather travel to Durb's and see a real airshow flown by real display pilots!

Long live Scully and the boy wonder Spence!

The Landing

It's only perfect when the main wheel trucks rotate slowly in unison !!! Score is 9.9/10.
