Hey Dudes,
406pilot you're absolutely right, the subject of this thread wasn't to find out who is LF, but the Van's tragic accident and how we could all learn from these. I got very curious in trying to find out who was LF because it was a small world over there and I kindda liked every one (of course, 406pilot, I would have 1 or 2 exceptions to that) and wanted to know which other shenzi rubani had joined the list of ppruners. I didn't intend to disclose his id for any reason or another, especially that, Lone Falcon, I really appreciated chatting with you when we use to meet, almost daily, at HTAR, HTKJ and all other strips.

Salaams to all from the great So Cal (just here on holiday, but checking driver jobs too)

ooooh

Right I now know who the falcon is. Dont know you so well old chap, happy to keep your secret.

I hear that some people dont like this kind of chat about the forced landing. Well I cant see that anyone has said anything controversial or over the top here. In fact we have praised the efforts of the pilot involved and had a serrious chat. Until the lone falcon guessing game started.

Yep the engine is probably on the doctors table at P&W, interesting to see the results. It will be good for all to understand the cause.

cheers all

did some reading on caravanpilots.com apparently according to wht i see most van involved in efato were the ones whose tbo had been increased to 6000hrs or was it?? i dont like the idea in particularly but if pratt and whitney says its good it must be good...(may b) wonder if MUA had an exteded tbo???

ps:to all u dumbnuts in tz..tbo is time before overhaul not tabora.

Hey

406, shenzi...............

MUA's TBO was increased by MR Pratt and MR WHITNEY,

however your reading on Vanpilots.com is very much true, it looks like the PT6-114 has had quite a few Efato's ( well even other failiures for that matter ) and one thing was in common to all of them all were on extended TBO's.

I am happy to hear that the quest for the Falcon is now not the headlines of the forum.

By the way to the new NOMAD on the forum karibu sana

I am still waiting for the bomb !! WAPI ???

I thought this was the van down in tanz forum not the who's down in Tanz forum.

I know 406 is down on the gnd in Tanz cause he posts so many replies. Tell me when you r airborne again mate.

From What i know about extended TBO's you have to get a boroscope inspection every 100 or so hours (pls correct me if im wrong) until Mr Pratt or Mrs Whitney says stop. Im not sure if this is also valid for the -114 but we had to do it on the -34's. If anyone has more info on this it let me know so i can update my data bank.

And Salaams to the rest of the guys in tanz and elsewhere.
Take it sleazy
Mo

yes.....yes

Very astute tiger, thats you mo. I think you are right about the boroscope deal. campdog3 three, I am told, likes the odd boroscope done on him also.

Back to serrious business. I am told that for extensions of this type to TBOs, only on engine from the fleet is subject to close inspection (I was going to write scrutiny, but I dont think I can spell it right) Now it is even rumoured that if your parent company is grranted this extension, the....offshoot can also take advantage of this. If I am incorrect...please feel free to shoot me down.

406 dont worry mate you will be up at FL310 soon.

cheers

Hey shifty 406y

I was only taking a small dig at ya like i used to do on the radio c im also still grounded and freezing my ba11s off in this poor excuse for spring weather.

As for extensions they are only granted if you have a trend monitoring program in place which most turbine operaters do. The main thing to remember is that it is a machine that can spin at 38500 rpm and things can let go quite quickly. Overall a machine that can do it for 6000hrs+ and still look good on the inside is usually ok and good on ya mr P&W for such a good engine You alsp must remember that HSI inspections are manditory at set times and parts can be replaced at these intervals. I hope they find the cause so they can prevent another one going down.

Flyhard guys, wish i was
