Post Seaplane required in South Africa

Hi! I am a film Producer in South Africa and am looking for the whereabouts and contact for a seaplane to be used in a commercial to be shot in Cape Town in the 3rd week of January 2004.The ideal would be a de havilland Beaver. I know of an operator by the name of Mark Bekker who has a sea Bee but we need a 4 -6 seater with a prop in the front. Can anyone help.SA or neighbouring territories

I agree, it sounds interesting.

Can't help with the aircraft... but you wouldn't happen to be looking for a pilot to go with it, would you?

Yep, thats what I would want to be doing, landing a Float Plane outside the breakwater on a windy day......Hope someone gets that on film.......
Four legged Beavers are hard to find in the Cape. I hear that Francois has had a few Beavers on all fours though......

Hi Seamus.
Sorry chap.By the looks of things you are out of luck here.
There used to be a caravan on floats in Cape Town, but got sold to a Kenyan operator the other day.(About 2 months back).
Besides the van,I dont think there is anything else here.
Good luck.

When I was last there in 98 there was a guy with a Beaver on Edo Amphibs.....

But he was having trouble with the rough water in the harbour....

Maybe it is still around there somewhere?

Didn't Grand West Casino used to have a caravan amphib? that they used to fly people to Club Mykanos in Langebaan? or is that the one Goffel was referring to

The Amphibeous Caravan that is referred is now on wheels. It was flown up to Lanseria in September to be refurbished and possibly have the floats put back on. There has subsequently been a change in plan or something, and the aircraft is now in the old Transafrican hangar and the floats are still lying at Greenwood Air.

Caravan at Lanseria

The said Caravan (ZS-ORR) at Lanseria is one of the contested assets of the WIN collapse at the V&A waterfront in Cape Town.

The aircraft was sent to be re painted and have the floats re installed just before the collapse but rumour is it has been attached / repossesed by Imperial bank and is seriously for sale for reasonble offers.

Suggest you try Greenwood aviation for more detail ta Lanseria.

Floatplane

A few months back I was in Entebbe and there was a very nice 185 on amphib floats in the Airserv hangar. Seems it operates around the lake. Not exactly sure who owns it, but it really was a pretty airplane. It's a long shot but who knows...

There used to be two C 206's on floats at Kariba - been hunting thru my photo's for the name and reg - will probably find it later..

I saw one of them not long ago still doing pax flights over the lake - so unless the beggars have stolen the floats for canoes, it should still be there....

Will re-post if I find photos...
