Emergency services called to aircraft crash on Black Isle

BBC are reporting:"Emergency services have been dealing with a crash involving a small aircraft on the Black Isle in the Highlands.

The incident which is believed to involve a gyrocopter happened near Avoch, a village on the Moray Firth coast, at about 12:55.

Police Scotland said it had received a report of a light aircraft having come down in a field.

Four Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) appliances and two ambulances were sent to the scene.

The Scottish Ambulance Service said it had also dispatched a community responder and Pre-hospital Immediate Care and Trauma team from Inverness.

The initial emergency response to the incident also included Inverness Coastguard helicopter, which was later stood down.

A gyrocopter has a rotor similar to a helicopter and usually carries one or two people."

One fatality feared.

From the Aberdeen Evening Express:

Highland Aviation, based at Inverness Dalcross Airport, has two gyros [an MTOsport and a Cavalon], but refused to confirm if it was one of theirs.

A spokesman said: "We know that there has been an aircraft come down. But until we know more we can't comment."
Unconfirmed reports suggest the aircraft involved was a Cavalon.
