Robin DR 400 crashes into Loire river: pilot killed.

Augusts 15th a Robin DR 400 wihich took off from Loudun (Vienne) destination La Baule crashed into the Loire river at Lavau-sur-Loire killing the pilot, Gérard Leclerc, a well-known journalist.. The report says there were either one or two passengers on-board but makes no comment as to their fate. Another report also refers to divers searching the wreck, and the search being broken off because of strong currents.

We can always rely on Le Dauphiné to try to stir up something without justification. By their logic, cars should be banned and everyone forced to take taxis or the train since there are so many car accidents..

The “Dauphine” Article is reserved to subscribers unfortunately , but when I read in the trailer that GA pilots are “ amateurs pilots” i am not sure I need to read the rest .

In here the pilot was a journalist well known in France , 73 years old with good experience in the club and flying an easy aircraft ( DR400) on a relatively easy local route .Weather played a role as well as pressure to get there ( a concert of this half brother , a well known french singer)
we’ve seen a lot of these kind of accidents before unfortunately.
