C300 Emergency Landing...

I am a new member who is thankful to be alive today.

This past weekend, our chartered Challenger 300's cabin and cockpit filled with smoke during take-off. Unfortunately, the plane was too heavy to return back to our departure airport due to high fuel loads . By the grace of God, we were able to complete an emergency landing at SXM about 7 minutes later. My family is unsure as to what caused the fire/smoke as it remains under investigation. I think that sound of the oxygen mask compressors (at least I think that's what the sound was) will haunt me and my family until the end of time.

I'm so thankful to the skilled pilots that brought us back down safely!

My wife & children have never looked more beautiful.

Truly Blessed,

JPR

Welcome JPR, thanks for sharing your unpleasant experience. As is the motto of a well known flight training organization, the best safety device in a plane is a well trained crew!

If you hear more about the cause of the event, let us know...

Not sure if you're attributing the safe outcome to god or the pilots. I'd go with the latter.
As pilots, we tend not to rely on religion.

Rubbish!

Before each flight I pray that I might have the wisdom to apply all that I have learned, and the strength to resist pressures (internal and external) to cut corners or reduce margins. At the end of each day I give thanks that these prayers were granted; some days much more relevant than others.

I make do with a lucky rabbit's foot. Each to his own.
