Looked like he did it deliberately. Why else would you dip that low below the lead?

Maybe he got a text message... "catch up 3!".

Agree , looks like it was just another deliberate stunt, each year one more to draw the crowds . Next will be the Wizzair A320 under that bridge I guess..

Matt Hall's water antics were much more spectacular.

Back in the crop spraying days - OK with great big balloon tyres for dirt strip usage - we used to water-ski down the canals or very smooth rivers e.g. The Nile. However, the touchdown was more gentle than this. The attempt could have gone very wrong with such a clout and relatively small tyres.

The S.A.A.F. used to have a display team that did similar with much more aplomb and 4 or 6 Harvards.
Be lucky

I believe Nelson used to do it with cannon balls and Sir Barnes Wallis modified some water storage areas using a similar law of physics.
To be fair though a manned projectile seems just a touch silly!

from a vague recollection of the SA Harvards on the Hartbeespoort Dam, I think it's the opposite...

I thought it was brakes on as well but as Dave Phillips water skis his Tiger Moth in NZ, presumably it doesn't have to be... Unless his Tiger has brakes fitted?

Some do have brakes, though I've never flown one that does. It seems more common in Aus.
