The tip speed on the large turbines is near reaching the speed of sound
A 60 meter radius blade would have to do 1 rotation in 1.1 seconds for the tip to be at speed of sound. Normal rotation time on large turbines is 3 to 4 seconds - nowhere near the speed of sound.
