Thanks, you’ll see from my original post above that I did get Google Earth to work and give me what I wanted - back indeed to 1945!

It’s the Bing equivalent that I was now looking for, or indeed any other free provider other than Google so that I can get a mix of images from different time stamps. Sorry if my post was not clear.
