All I know is that in order to use your Australian license (via a letter of verification) to go straight to an FAA ATP, the FAR’s require that your foreign license (being you Australian one) has to be current in every respect In order to actually take your FAA ATP/Type rating flight test.

I haven’t looked at Aussie regs for 2 years so I can’t answer Aussie part 61 questions without possibly giving you incorrect information.

Have you read the FAA FAR’s part 61, it’s all spelled out in there pretty clearly what is required.
