Joyce was ex Aer Lingus, as is Willy Walsh, now IAG CEO.
Walsh studiously divorced himself from all connections with his pilot origins. He knew it was a fundamental obstacle to his ambitions in higher management.
Joyce was never a pilot, so he’s permitted his romantic delusions.
