I'm not a CFI, but I have done full down autos in the 22,...they're really not that bad! In fact there's a full down contest in the 22 every year in Oregon.
You want to auto down on a pillow though, the Enstrom is the way to go! It was so smooth I thought it was just another power on running landing!
