Incidentally, for the benefit of those conjecturing on the relative calm to be found when a submarine dives to avoid extreme surface conditions, I have experienced a 26 degree role to either side in a nuclear submarine - at 500 feet keel depth. I can't say where or when, but I was certainly very glad not to be nearer the surface.

That report has a bit too much pseudo-mathematical waffle to ring true to me. If the report was authoritative, I would not expect such precision about the collapse depth of the implosion, nor a figure of "1800mph" for the "ram-effect" of an implosion.
Moreover, that class of submarine would probably have a collapse depth of more than 1275ft.
I'm a bit sceptical about the expertise of the source of that article.
