If the Emirates group make a profit above budget, then there is a profit share amoungst all the employees.
How it works is all smoke and mirrors stuff, but this year looks like another bumper yield. And it's certainly not as insidious as the scheme you outlined.
As a result of the last financial year, all EK employees received eight weeks extra pay as a bonus.
Thats two months(ish) worth of pay, that as some have pointed out is to make up for a lot of short falls in the contract.
Yes it is a carrot, but a quite a few parts of the contract are, and it makes sense to keep people here as long as they can.
Gotta go and organise my annual leave ticket, and may even drop into the SARS affected zone for a few catch up beers on the way.
