One of my first tasks at my first station after training in 1961 was amending QRs and the MAFL. One thing I remember vividly was that a Marshal of the RAF was paid just over £5,000 per annum - that's £100 a week, an unimaginable sum to me, a lowly LAC on less that 5 percent of that.
