Of course the ROI is something we all have to consider. I doubt many of us are fortunate enough to do it for free, plus everyone has to pay for their training. My point was, that, you shouldn't do it BECAUSE of an ROI. In tagzys OP he was suggesting that becoming a pilot is not a good job anymore because of the high training outlay and minimal initial return.

I've seen a good number of people I know pursue a cockpit career purely because the perceived financial and social status that comes with it. My point was; Do it because you have a passion for aviation and flight, not because you think its gonna earn you bucks.
