Well it actually depends on who you give the orals with.

And the shortest possible course is ten days and 9k usd.

Remember too, to get an FAA type rating one must pass an FAA oral. FAA orals are not easy. They take a lot of study to properly prepare for. Recently at the Boeing center in Singapore an experienced Australian B777 captain who was trying to become a simulator instructor failed his FAA oral in spectacular fashion. This is not uncommon for someone who has never done an FAA oral before and does not get proper guidance on how to prepare for it.
