The Major Airlines will normally stop any refuelling when thunderstorms are close, not sure of the exact distance.
I have seen a few instances over the years where the Airline has been reluctant to
however the Refuelling Companies will terminate the service anyway when the storms get too close for safety, regardless of what the Airlines want to do.
