As a 2-car a/plt off at Shawbury in 65, for complex reasons [including spending my uniform allowance unwisely on a better car] I had a rent-a-car too. The humble price of 10/0 a night, and make your own arrangements with the Constabulary if stopped.
It was quite well used, and indeed one had a 4-ship one evening with some lasses from Radbrook Domestic Science College. I wonder if Dave St****t is reading this? With the blanket between the front and rear seats for privacy?
There was also the Course Alvis, the V8 belching smoke at 250mpg on oil, that was sold on to the next course for £5. Which, IIRC, was the sum I got for my Ford Popular [mine was black] when sold to an MoD policeman in this middle years as his FIRST car.
But I digress ... apologies, as usual!
