Reservoir overheat

After a discussions in a simulator session of further system management with a reservoir overheat condition , I would like to know from an engineer's point of view , what are the expected consequences from continuing to use hydraulics for some time with a reservoir overheat . More specifically this was an Airbus 320 reservoir overheat condition
1. The overheat condition starts when the temperature of the returning fluid at the inlet of the reservoir is above normal : Is there a big tolerance (an increment in temperature ) above which things can start going wrong?
2. What sort of damage can be expected from reservoir overheat condition : damage to the reservoir container itself? degradation of the fluid characteristics so that they don't provide pressure correctly ? hydraulic line damage / rupture ? any damage to the hydraulic pump ?

Thank you for any technical information provided
