Terrible news.

My best wishes for all those affected. There will be opportunities for a great many as the global shortage of professional pilots begins to get traction, but that's small comfort for those with families, mortgages, and training loans to service.

I've always had a great respect for Monarch, and it's deeply sad to see what can happen to a company with what appears on the surface to have been a reasonable prospect of resurrection.

The sad fact is that there are tectonic plates in motion in our industry, and the defence of our noble profession is becoming increasingly difficult with some of the dark forces and less palatable personalities intent on reducing us to machine operators.

Farewell Monarch. In this cut throat industry, it's devastating sad when it's the good guys whose necks are the ones that are wrung.
