Hmm not at all according to the figures I have read - its short field performance is well below that needed at both t/off and landing.

A short field performance improvement package was done for GOL for the 738 in 2006 to op from Rio's SDU airport but
afaik none planned for the Max.
a 737 8MAX at MTOW or MZFW (189-200 pax) at sea level needs around 10000' of runway at 30C temps
and around 8000' at 14C
GIB's runway is 5500' and with a SW wind the crosswind limits will be 15kts for a landing
thats why the A321 does not go there
