For private flying I don't think there is any mandated training as they are both covered on the same type rating. For an AOC you will need differences training as required with the Chief Pilot or TRE. But I think you should fly with an instructor in any case for private flying to pick up on the differences.
Sorry to tell you but according to the EASA type ratings listing of Feb 2017 the L models are all in a separate box to the standard B models. So yes, whatever your license or usage you are required to do Differences training at an ATO that has the 206 Diffs approvals.
Things could be worse...at one time L1 to L2 or L anything else also needed Diffs!
