A poster on the St Helena News & Travel Facebook page stated that those were the economy and first class fares. Quite a lot of discussion on there, including comments from Richard Brown of (I think) Atlantic Star.
Those prices don't seem unreasonable, for the type of aircraft and unfortunately reduced seating capacity.
I'd love to visit HLE, but from the UK it would still mean at least 11-12 hours direct to JNB, an overnight in JNB, then the flight to HLE. Can't go this year anyway, so I'll wait and see if anyone ventures a charter via somewhere like Windhoek, or Banjul as mooted previously.
