It's the potential extremism issue that concerns me. There would seem to be two main reasons why a Muslim might refuse to handle a container that has alcohol in it. The first is that they are poorly educated with regard to the true strictures in the Qur'an, the second is that they hold extreme views that are outwith the mainstream beliefs of Islam.

The first is just an understandable error, the second is more worrying. If someone is misinterpreting one one aspect of Islam, who's to say that they are either misinterpreting other aspects, or even under the influence of someone with extremist views?
