No - he was Air Cdre Rocks after being the best stn cdr that Cranwell has seen. He was a desert Hunter man, Jags and BALO with the paras, surviving the infamous Keil Canal jump: his parachute failed, he bounced off the canopy of the man ahead and was caught by the said man (who broke both legs when landing!).
