I am long in the tooth enough (yet still only BA Blue) to recall my last flight on a BA One-Eleven. 1992 I believe, Birmingham to Glasgow. I was aware they were about to be withdrawn, which finally happened about six weeks later. What was striking about the One-Eleven was that it was absolutely immaculate, inside and out. The internal panels, thoroughly clean and polished, looked like they were new. The seats didn't sag. All the antimacassars were aligned.
The One-Elevens were a Manchester responsibility, and they were a law unto themselves.
It was very rare to see one in the hangar at LHR.
