Agreed. The gap between the two lines of scales/boarding card readers is too narrow to get through easily with a suitcase when there are families stood around at the first few machines. Had to persuade people in the queue in front of us to move to the far end to keep things moving.
No staff in evidence to keep the queue moving at 0415 last Wednesday. By 0445 the queue was just short of the escalator at the security end.
Not helped by the number of people who made their way alongside the queue (not realising the should have joined the end) and then meeting others coming the other way who'd done the same thing and turned round!
It's never going to be great with those sorts of numbers at one time - but could be improved with a bit of thought
