Hello, my father was a crew chief on the B-29.
He once told me that if the turbo wastegate stuck,
then an engine overspeed was immediate. Then the propellor
would depart the aircraft, upwards, then the now unloaded
engine would overspeed a lot more, and also depart the aircraft.
Apparently happened so fast not possible to stop.
