I don't see the value in putting ridiculous connections on the website; if people come across one of them first they'll just assume they're all ridiculous and not bother looking at routes where they might offer sensible options!
(I had a look at Southend - Amsterdam on both the FlyBe website and the DB journey planner. DB offers a selection of 6h30m journeys (or 6h52 straight to Amsterdam Centraal), but one of the flights the FlyBe website offers is 7h45m. At the right time of day you could drive it faster than FlyBe's flight, though you'd only get to see Belgium and not Manchester & Southampton airports).
