I don't think there is any point getting pent up about the volume of services from LHR. It is the primary hub for the U.K. and for London, which is one of the two primary cities on the planet. The other is New York, so it's hardly surprising that there is a vast number of services between the pair.
MAN has traditionally lost market share through LHR, but is starting to claw it back. It's a major player on the European stage, and for that reason I'd rather focus on what MAN and its airline partners can achieve, together with the rest of the northern cities, over the next few years.
