I was aware why we were at the remote stand; though it did seem to take the crew by surprise. Not an issue, only raising it as it will be much more common for the next few years. Yes, it is the ground handling company that provisions the stairs, under direction from their client. As for rear stairs not being preferential. This isn't an issue with an A333 as you have two forward doors. I have disembarked from another A333, same company, different site, using both the L1 and L2 doors via stairs, we only used L2 this time. The only difference is that you need an extra set of stairs and an extra staff member (at most) to man the other stairs, no issue with walking the wrong way or under the wing.
