Just thought I'd give an update on my email experiences in the four weeks since my new laptop arrived.
1. Windows 10 mail I did not like. It is impossible to transfer old emails and contacts in Windows Mail/Live Mail to Windows 10 mail despite a Google search revealing many sites which try to tell you it is possible.
2. Likewise Thunderbird is not accepting of transfers in so that was a non-starter.
3. Windows Mail/Live Mail is no longer available anywhere so this rendered a like-to-like transfer impossible.
4. After much Googling it appeared to me that the only way to copy all my old emails and contacts off the old computer and onto the new one was to install Outlook on the old computer and copy everything from Windows Mail to that. Then install another copy of Outlook on the new computer and transfer the old data to the new computer via an external hard drive. This was all a bit of a hassle but I got there in the end with everything now on Outlook on the new computer and all working fine.
Incidentally I got my two copies of Outlook from an eBay vendor as part of a full Office 2016 download for just a few pounds (£2.99 to be precise). Valid key provided and it all worked smoothly.
