The truth is quite different, where there has been a 53% fall in aircraft registrations and a 38% fall in pilot numbers.
I'm no admirer of CASA, but that graph and statement (my bolding) on aircraft registrations looks a bit suss to me. It would appear to reflect the number of aircraft
added to the register each year. This number is somewhat meaningless unless the
total number of aircraft on the register is compared on a year-to-year basis. Has there been a net increase or decline in the overall number of active aircraft on the register?
It is somewhat misleading to produce a graphic that tracks the
total number of active pilots, but does not reflect (as I see it) the total number of active aircraft.
