a couple of experienced Mountain Pilots (& these 2 were) I would assume would firstly assess the escape power required, next pick her up to a hover & have another good look at the power Your pulling verses the power You need to escape, then ask? Have I got sufficient margin to pull this off, or not........obviously not, but they didn't check did they

Sad, such a splendid piece of machinery, wrecked because the margins were too tight.
It has to be stressful to operate in an environment where one has to always second guess oneself whether the next maneuver is feasible.
